Whether you're looking to try something new or refine your skills, our classes are designed to spark your imagination and bring your unique creations to life. Join us and experience the art of pottery!
Cariku Art Lab offers a selection of basic sculpting and pottery tools for purchase at the studio for students who prefer to buy locally. We also have a limited number of shared tools available for use during class for students who may not yet have their own. Students are encouraged to bring personal tools, when possible, but lack of tools should never be a barrier to participating.
Beginner/Intermediate Wheel class

This four-week class meets once a week and includes four additional open studio days, giving you plenty of time to practice and refine your skills.
Perfect for beginners or those with some experience, this class focuses on the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including centering, shaping, and trimming.
You'll also learn essential techniques for creating functional and decorative pottery pieces.
Cost: $ 200 (materials and firing included up to 20 pieces).
Class start the first week of each month:
Tuesdays from 4-6 pm
Thursdays: from 6-8 pm

*No more than twenty pieces can be made or glazed during a Monthly open studio and class session. Clay is included for class work only.
Hand-Building class

This four-week class meets once a week and is perfect for anyone looking to explore pottery without the use of a wheel. It includes four additional open studio days!
Learn foundational techniques such as slab building, coiling, and pinch pottery to create unique and functional pieces. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this class allows you to experiment with shapes, textures, and designs while crafting pottery by hand.
Cost: $ 200 (materials and firing included up to 20 pieces).
Monthly Class dates:
Tuesdays from 10:30-12:30 pm
Wednesday from 10:30-12:30 pm

Paint-a-pot Experience

This is a fun and creative two-hour pottery painting experience for all ages! Choose a pre-made ceramic piece, explore different painting techniques, and personalize your design. Once finished, we’ll fire your piece, making it a lasting keepsake. Perfect for individuals, families, or friends looking for a relaxing and artistic activity, no experience needed!
Cost: $20/$40 /$60 per person (depends on the piece you choose)
Materials and firing are included for one piece.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1:00-3:00 and 3:00-5:00 pm
Open Studio programs

Designed for independent artists and pottery enthusiasts, this program offers Monthly/Saturday/Daily access to the Cariku Art Lab studio during designated hours.
Enjoy the freedom to work at your own pace, using our wheels, tools, and workspaces to bring your ideas to life. Whether refining your skills or completing ongoing projects, our studio provides a welcoming and inspiring environment for your artistry.
Cost: $100 monthly per person (Firing and dipping glazes included up to 20 pieces)
Saturdays: $60 monthly per person. (Firing and dipping glazes included up to 10 pieces)
Daily: $35 per person (Firing and dipping glazes included up to 3 pieces)
Access hours: from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesdays to Saturdays.
* Clay is not included for the Open studio program.
Private Pottery lesson

Our private pottery lessons offer a personalized, hands-on experience tailored to your interests and skill level. In a two-hour session, you’ll receive one-on-one instruction and explore one of our pottery techniques, including:

Wheel Throwing: Learn the basics of centering, pulling, and shaping clay on the potter’s wheel.

Handbuilding: Discover creative methods like coil, slab, and pinch construction.

Glazing Techniques: Experiment with commercial glaze combinations to achieve beautiful finishes on your pieces.

Custom Topics: Lessons can be customized to cover other areas of interest such as surface decoration, trimming, kiln basics, studio practices, and more.
